Responsibilities
- Develop strategic campaigns to promote environmental justice and address issues affecting marginalized communities.
- Engage with community members to understand their concerns and priorities related to environmental justice.
- Build partnerships with local organizations, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders to support environmental justice initiatives.
- Organize community meetings, workshops, and public forums to raise awareness and mobilize community action.
- Conduct research and policy analysis to support advocacy efforts and develop evidence-based solutions.
- Advocate for local, regional, and national policies that advance environmental justice.
- Coordinate media and communications teams to amplify the organization's message and affected communities' voices.
- Track and evaluate campaign progress to ensure objectives are met.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, public policy, social work, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in community organizing, environmental advocacy, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of environmental justice issues, including social, economic, and political factors contributing to disparities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Experience in campaign strategy, planning, and execution.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in data analysis, report writing, and digital tools for organizing and communication.
Compensation
The estimated salary range is $60,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits include health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
