About the Role:

McFarland Construction is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects.

Job Summary:

The Construction Operations Manager will be responsible for coordinating subcontractors, monitoring job site safety and quality, and resolving issues that arise on-site. This role acts as a bridge between project management and field operations, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to plans.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and Supervise Subcontractors: Ensure that subcontractors, vendors, and laborers maintain workflow and productivity.
  • Monitor Job Site Safety: Enforce compliance with safety protocols and OSHA regulations, conducting daily site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.
  • Communicate with Project Management: Clarify project requirements and resolve on-site issues with project management, engineers, and architects.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Keep accurate daily logs, job photos, and project documentation.
  • Review Project Plans: Identify potential challenges or conflicts by reviewing project plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Track and Manage Resources: Monitor project resources, including materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Schedule and Coordinate Tasks: Support the Superintendent in scheduling, planning, and coordinating tasks to meet project timelines.
  • Conduct Pre-Construction Meetings: Ensure subcontractors understand their roles and responsibilities through pre-construction meetings.
  • Participate in Weekly Job Site Meetings: Report progress and discuss upcoming tasks during weekly job site meetings.
  • Closing Out Projects: Assist with punch lists, inspections, and close-out activities to ensure project completion.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree: In Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 5+ years commercial construction experience; previous experience in office, financial, retail, and healthcare sectors preferred.
  • Software Skills: Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • OHS Certification: OSHA 30-Hour certification or equivalent safety training.
  • OSHA Knowledge: Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe job site.

Educational Background and Experience Requirements: A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, relevant work experience can substitute for formal education. Strong industry knowledge, including familiarity with building codes and construction processes, is essential.

Compensation Package: We offer a competitive salary, ranging from $85,000 to over $110,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive compensation package that reflects your value to our organization.
