Job Overview

The MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team. This role will involve developing impact-driven AI technologies for pathology and working with a high interdisciplinary team to generate biologically meaningful results.

About the Position

This position requires a strong background in digital pathology and experience with deep learning techniques. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related field. Three years of experience in scientific software or industry development/analysis are required. A Master's degree may require one year of experience, while a PhD may not require any experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain computational methods using deep learning for pathological image processing.
  • Work with a high interdisciplinary team to generate biologically meaningful results and work towards clinical implementation of AI technology for oncology.
  • Develop key performance metrics to demonstrate image processing accuracy.
  • Keep current and evaluate state-of-the-art methods and tools, establish and help maintain computational infrastructure and analytic pipelines.
  • Participate in the design of pathology/biological/sequencing experiment to generate high quality data for machine learning.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects in a timely and resource efficient manner.
  • Organize and provide up-to-date documentation for data and code, and help write scientific publications and reports.

Benefits and Compensation

This position offers a competitive salary range of $103,000 - $155,000 per year, with opportunities for career growth and professional development. Additionally, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Location and Work Arrangements

This position will be based in Houston, Texas, with opportunities for remote work. The successful candidate will be expected to work on-site occasionally, but will also have the flexibility to work from home as needed.
