Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician Role

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine department at BluePearl Pet Hospital. As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, you will be a liaison between our internists and clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors.

You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in-person conversations. Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking X-rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up constant rate infusions (CRI)
  • Calculate medical math, including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.)
  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia
  • Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures
  • Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway)
  • Clean and maintain equipment following procedures
  • Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations
