Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at a prestigious acute-care hospital in Fort Bragg, California.

About the Role

The successful candidate will serve as technical consultant and direct supervisor of laboratory personnel, overseeing all laboratory testing and coordinating point of care testing (POCT). They will review and evaluate the validity and accuracy of test results, establish the laboratory's test performance characteristics, and conduct training programs on instrumentation, technology, and procedure as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all laboratory testing and coordinate POCT.
  • Review and evaluate the validity and accuracy of test results.
  • Establish the laboratory's test performance characteristics.
  • Conduct training programs on instrumentation, technology, and procedure as needed.
  • Manage staffing to ensure coverage and recommend promotions, reassignments, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs.
  • Coordinate equipment and instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration program.
  • Evaluate new and evolving developments in laboratory instrumentation, procedures, reagents, and automation for possible implementation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences, or allied health technologies or equivalent.
  • Five years' clinical laboratory experience.
  • Two years' leadership experience.
  • Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in the state of employment.
  • Current certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Credentialing Agency for Labs (NCA).
