The University of Miami Health System invites a skilled Clinical Pathologist to join its esteemed team. This dynamic position comes with an estimated salary of $250,000-$300,000 per annum.

Job Description

Patient care services are a critical aspect of this role, with the successful candidate providing high-quality care to patients across UMH, JMH, and satellites, as well as SCCC and its satellites. The pathologist will also be responsible for guiding gross descriptions, taking photographs of specimens when necessary, and conducting tissue sampling.

Microscopic examinations of surgical specimens, reporting of findings, and verifying coding diagnoses in a timely manner are essential duties of this position. The department's service productivity is tied to the departmental compensation plan, previously approved by UHealth Compensation Committee.

In addition to patient care, the clinical pathologist will participate in educational activities for pathology residents and fellows. Collaborative research opportunities will be available, enabling the successful candidate to pursue basic/clinical or applied research and collaborate with investigators throughout the Medical Center. The pathologist will also contribute to daily quality assurance and participate in Department of Pathology hospital committees and working groups.

Required Qualifications
  • A medical degree (MD) or doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) is required.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Pathology is mandatory.
  • Additional board certifications are desirable.
  • Licensure to practice medicine in the State of Florida is necessary.
  • Strong general knowledge of Surgical Pathology and Pulmonary Pathology, including intraoperative evaluations, is required.
  • Knowledge of other Pathology Subspecialties is desirable.
  • Experience with methods, tools, and measurements for quality improvement to improve work processes using a team-based model is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with regulations and standards of JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA is essential.
