Job Summary

The Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the power plant, including supporting plant operations, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, or instruments and controls. This role requires a strong understanding of instrumentation and control systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on instrumentation and control systems, including calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Perform start-up, operation, shutdown, and security of assigned equipment or systems under normal and emergency conditions.
  • Inspect assigned machinery thoroughly for malfunctions and/or potential failures.
  • Consult diagrams and technical documentation, such as schematics, manuals, standards, and codes, to ensure accurate and safe operation of equipment.
  • Install, configure, calibrate, and maintain control, measurement, and indicating instrumentation, including pneumatic, analog, and digital systems.
  • Configure and program Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC).
  • Install and terminate electrical, pneumatic, and fluid connections.
  • Inspect and test the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults.
  • Remove, repair, adjust, and replace components as needed.
  • Calibrate components and systems to ensure accurate and safe operation.
  • Assist in the development of operating and maintenance procedures to ensure consistent and safe operation.
  • Conduct or assist in scheduled and forced outage maintenance work.
  • Supervise, coordinate, or assist contractors performing work at the facility.
  • Comply with all Facility Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and programs.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent level of work experience.
  • Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment test battery.
  • Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment drug testing and formal background checks.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the assigned position.
  • Must possess a solid level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
  • At least three years of related work experience working with Instruments & Controls.
  • Possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
  • I & C (Instrument & Controls) experience preferred.
Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced power plant environment, with exposure to hazardous materials and equipment. The successful candidate must be able to work 10-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, and be on-call status (day and night) as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions.

Physical Abilities

The successful candidate must be able to work on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting 50 pounds. They must also be able to work in elevated areas, confined spaces, and in extreme heat and cold conditions.
