Patient Transporter

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Patient Transporter to join our team at UMass Memorial Health Care. As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients throughout the hospital, ensuring their comfort and well-being at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Escort ambulatory patients to their destinations, using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds as needed.
- Verify patient identification and complete Safe Patient Transport Forms to ensure accurate and safe transport.
- Monitor patient comfort and safety during transport, responding to basic needs and providing handoff communication to receiving units.
- Assist nursing staff and lift techs in moving and positioning patients using various lift devices.
- Deliver stretchers, beds, cribs, and wheelchairs as needed, and assist in deep-cleaning transport equipment on a biannual basis.
- Transport patient specimens, medical records, and other materials as required, following established infection control guidelines.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation to maintain a collaborative, patient-focused effort between Patient Transportation and other hospital departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six months' experience in a hospital environment.
