Flex Inc is seeking a highly skilled Quality Technician to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role will be responsible for performing product inspection and/or audits of quality control programs, first article inspections and calibration, inspecting flat blank layouts, out of box audit (OBA) and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials.
Key Responsibilities:- Audit processes, test and inspect products and/or develop, compile and evaluate statistical data to define and maintain quality and reliability of products.
- Work from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform complex engineering testing, checkout, First Article Inspection, root cause research, internal corrective actions and supplier correction actions.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to define quality and reliability standards.
- Select processes to be audited from primarily the manufacturing areas and check for a variety of features, including ESD (electro-static discharge) and handling practices, documentation, training and process integrity.
- Select products for audits at specified stages in the production or post-production process, and test products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical or cosmetic characteristics.
- Record audit data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
- Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards, programs or reports to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Perform calibration on inspection tools e.g. micrometers, calipers height gages etc.
- Maintain gage track program, print list of gages due for calibration in the beginning of each month and follow up with calibration.
- Send gages out for calibration, maintain calibration records.
- Prepare graphs or charts of data or enter data into computer for research data.
- Download quality information from quality system to be used for QA reports.
- Research for engineering test results and implement process changes to resolve problems.
- Perform out of box audits (OBA) as required.
- Provide factory hold up to identify and resolve issues associated with purchased parts, materials and manufacturing.
- May be required to perform receiving inspection.
- Review at the beginning of the shift the Quality Auditors assistance and validated the Check List.
- Scrap disposition at MRB in less than 24 hours.
- Assure that the Customer implementation activities are in place.
- Meet the SSYMA requirements (boats, goggles, gloves, ear plugs).
- Review the SPC data and confirm the actions are effective.
- Validate the tooling and gauges are working properly (microscope, magnifier, etc).
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- 1 -3 years of related experience on electronic manufacturing.
- Proficient on data analysis (excel).
- Background on quality basic concepts.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds pull & push up to 40 pounds, ladder use up to 5ft.
- Ability to work on 2nd Shift 0300p-11:30a Mon-Thurs.
