Job Summary

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure to support the organization's communication systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing and installing new networking equipment as directed by senior staff members.
  • Implementing new networking systems, including configurations and applications, to support business initiatives.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing communications systems to ensure reliable and dependable communication with members, between branch locations, and to cloud systems.
  • Coordinating on projects involving both network and system aspects, such as server upgrades, data migrations, or security patches.
  • Managing, maintaining, and monitoring network and telephony connectivity to ensure reliable and effective communication.
  • Creating and maintaining accurate network and system documentation, including relevant procedures, policies, and similar.
  • Providing reports and updates on network performance, system outages, and maintenance activities to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation of network configurations, issues, and resolutions.
  • Ensuring all network equipment and communication software is properly licensed.
  • Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption protocols.
  • Supporting the Information Security team in ensuring safe and secure communication channels. Implementing fixes and updates as needed to support a secure environment.
  • Researching the latest developments in network security, including new vulnerabilities, attack methods, and emerging technologies.
  • Proactively recommending and implementing updates to network security policies and practices in response to industry trends and newly discovered vulnerabilities.
  • Supporting the Service Desk and System Administration teams with employee support and service requests as needed.
  • Assisting the team in taking turns providing on-call support.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
  • Understanding of telephony systems (VoIP, PBX, etc.)
  • Knowledge of server operating systems (Windows, Linux) and virtualization.
  • Ability to analyze network performance and implement improvements.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively in a small-team setting.
