Job Summary:

The Certified Medication Aide plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications to residents at Midwest Health. Under the direction of the attending physician, nurse supervisor, or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services, this position assists in the administering of medications in accordance with established nursing standards, facility policies, and state requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Comply with facility policies and procedures, as well as nursing department guidelines.
* Report any allegations of resident abuse or neglect to the Administrator or Nurse Manager immediately.
* Treat residents, family members, visitors, and colleagues with respect and dignity.
* Maintain confidentiality of resident and family information.
* Report to work on time and as scheduled.
* Participate in facility surveys and inspections as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing Services.
* Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and room.
* Protect resident privacy when administering medication, knocking before entering their room.
* Accurately prepare, administer, and document medications as ordered by the attending physician or Medical Director.
* Document and report any errors in medication administration immediately.
* Ensure medications are properly labeled and stored in accordance with facility policy.

Requirements:

* Valid CMA certification in good standing with the state.
* Valid CPR certification.
* Basic computer skills.
* Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
* Willingness to work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
* Ability to assist in resident evacuation during emergency situations.
* Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
* Meet general health requirements set forth by state regulations and company policy.
