Job Summary

The Core Technologist I position at Sonic Reference Laboratory, Inc. is a critical role that requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing moderate and high complexity clinical assays, troubleshooting issues, and training new staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assay Performance: Efficiently perform moderate and high complexity clinical assays according to written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Quality Control: Adhere to departmental and OSHA policies and procedures, including quality control, analytical performance, quality assurance, and safety.
  • General Laboratory Functions: Contribute to general laboratory functions by maintaining a clean and organized work area, attending meetings, and complying with laboratory procedures and safety practices.
  • Specimen Integrity: Ensure specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing.
  • Test and Quality Control Results: Analyze, review, and report test and quality control results, and take remedial action when indicated.
  • Data Entry and Verification: Enter and verify data within the clinical Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Quality Control Assessments: Perform, document, and maintain Quality Control assessments and data.
  • Training and Development: Train new personnel as assigned and participate in laboratory continuing education programs.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement and quality assurance projects as assigned.
  • Instrument Maintenance: Participate in instrument maintenance, scheduling routine vendor maintenance, comparisons, carryover, calibration verification.
  • Supply Management: Participate in supply management on assigned bench, including inventory counts, order requests, reagent lot to lots, labeling, and appropriate usage.
Requirements
  • Education: B.S. or Associate in Medical Technology or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science.
  • Experience: 1 year of pertinent laboratory experience or professional laboratory certification in Clinical Laboratory Science by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent.
  • Physical Capabilities: Some lifting, up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 25 lbs. Frequent repetitive hand and arm movement, eye-hand-foot coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, balance, depth perception, hearing acuity, color vision, and near and far vision acuity are also required.
  • Mental and Emotion Requirements: Handling multiple priorities at one time, managing stress appropriately, making decisions under pressure, working alone and in teams, and contributing to a harmonious work environment.
  • Environmental Demands: Works in a temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
