Job Type: Part-Time/Full-Time
Overview: Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a skilled and dedicated Virtual Sign Language Interpreter to support our students in a school environment. This role involves interpreting spoken language into sign language for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring effective communication and access to educational content.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) during live virtual classes and events.
- Facilitate communication between educators and Deaf or hard of hearing students.
- Collaborate with teachers to understand lesson plans and student needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Stay current on educational practices and technology used in virtual learning.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably K-12.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication access needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in technology used for virtual learning (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Flexibility to work with diverse student populations and varying schedules.
