Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Shelter Advocate to provide advocacy, support, and referrals to victims of domestic violence and their children in a shelter setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis hotline coverage and complete intakes and orientation for clients arriving in shelter
  • Review safety and goal plans with clients periodically and document all interactions
  • Conduct house meetings and room checks as needed, and provide advocacy and referrals for clients
  • Implement and monitor shelter policies and procedures to ensure client safety
  • Report emergencies to supervisor and inform Shelter Manager of food supplies and inventory
  • Assist with fundraisers and participate in shelter housekeeping, maintenance, and office duties
Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required. Must be responsible, mature, flexible, and capable of handling crisis situations. 40 hour domestic violence training and successful completion of a background check required.
