We seek dedicated professionals who value inclusion and have a clear interest in being part of a community that values diversity. As a Medical Care Coordinator, you will work closely with the New Bedford Board of Health to oversee all aspects of Childhood Immunization Clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing General Nursing Care
    • Work collaboratively with special education and healthcare staff to provide personalized care and instruction to students with disabilities.
    • Promote positive safety practices within and outside school buildings.
  • Communicable Disease Prevention and Infection Control
    • Implement universal precautions, prevent bloodborne pathogens exposure, and ensure safe disposal of hazardous medical waste.
  • Nursing Interventions and Record Keeping
    • Administer medications based on state and local regulations, perform nursing procedures, and assist with daily nursing care for assigned students.
    • Maintain comprehensive health records of interventions provided to individually assigned students.
  • Collaboration with Supervisors and Teachers
    • Be directly responsible to the building nurse for all activities related to medical concerns.
    • Assist with health-related tasks as deemed necessary by the Supervisor of Nursing and/or the building school nurse.
    • Directly responsible to the classroom teacher for instruction-related activities.
    • Confer with parents of special education students as needed, including attendance at individual student I.E.P. meetings if requested.
    • Assist individual special education students with travel to and from school if needed.
