Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician - Production Equipment Specialist to join our team at Eastern Shipbuilding Group. This is a full-time position responsible for performing preventative and corrective mechanical and electrical maintenance on production equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Read and interpret schematics for electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and make repairs and installations as needed.
  • Fill out reports on work performed and track production down times and repair times.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Ethernet and Device Net systems.
  • Repair overhead cranes and hoists.
  • Repair tools and ancillary production equipment, including presses, band saws, pumps, spray guns, and sanders.
  • Repair CNC Plasma equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalence and three to five years of mechanical and electrical maintenance experience desired.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Working knowledge and experience of operating overhead cranes and welding experience desired.
  • Requires knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Skills
  • Ability to demonstrate effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic to intermediate level Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, supervisors, and employees.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, continual loud noise, and other hazards found in a heavy industrial shipyard environment. Rigorous compliance with safety procedures, policies, and personal safety equipment requirements is therefore mandatory.
