About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Intermountain Health's Denver Midtown Clinic. This is an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Job Description:
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing general administrative and patient care tasks in accordance with the Intermountain Health MGPSMA Scope of Practice and other established policies and procedures.
This role requires effective communication and diplomacy within a multi-disciplinary care team. The successful candidate will greet and prepare patients for healthcare providers while maintaining a positive and caring attitude.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs general administrative tasks and provides patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Greets and prepares patients for healthcare providers.
- Attends to patient needs, coordinates care, administers care, and documents appropriately.
- Ensures patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights by observing HIPAA regulations.
- Obtains and records patient information, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, current medications, medical history, and chief complaint.
- Demonstrates knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- May be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Performs routine tests including EKGs, hearing and vision screens as requested by healthcare providers.
- Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testing.
- Communicates test results to patients and establishes a plan of care via phone or mail as directed by healthcare providers.
- Documents patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by healthcare providers.
- Prepares, cleans, and sterilizes instruments and maintains equipment; stocks patient exam rooms while maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Administers ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
- Escalates non-routine issues, questions, and concerns to the practice manager and/or healthcare providers.
- Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be a certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). Additionally, you should have three months of previous experience in a healthcare setting and current BLS Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
A successful completion of an Accredited National Certification Exam for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferred. One year of Medical Assistant experience is also highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits:
This full-time position offers an hourly salary of $18.29-$23.55.
