Mechanical Engineer I

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at ELLWOOD National Forge. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing capital equipment projects, troubleshooting equipment and processes, and developing new manufacturing methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage capital equipment projects, including configuration, justification, location, installation, and start-up.
- Troubleshoot equipment and in-house processes as required.
- Develop and implement new and improved manufacturing methods.
- Interface with and support production to achieve best-in-class practices.
- Devise and implement process improvements and cost reduction.
- Assist maintenance to improve equipment reliability and productivity.
- Set clear expectations for team members and evaluate needs of team.
- Solve organizational and production problems.
- Research, develop, collect, and report information on the ability and capacity of company products and competing equipment.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree in Manufacturing Technology or Engineering or related field.
- Experience in metal cutting operations.
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Syteline).
- Ability to work independently on projects.
- Ability to lead and direct team efforts.
- Strong math skills and problem-solving ability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with installation and commission of newly purchased equipment and relocation of refurbished/existing equipment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with medium and large machine tool builder and/or refurbishing operations.
- Maintenance background.
- BSME/BMSMET.
- EIT Certification.
- CAM experience (Mastercam).
