Job Summary

We are seeking a Recreation Therapist, CF to join our team at the California State Prison, Los Angeles County (LAC). As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for leading, instructing, and encouraging patients in a program of individual and group activities of a physical, social, and cultural nature.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and instruct patients in a program of individual and group activities
  • Encourage patients to participate in physical, social, and cultural activities
  • Supervise entertainments and movies and assist in planning programs for special occasions
  • Plan treatment goals for specific patients with the therapeutic team
  • Coordinate recreation therapy with other therapeutic programs
  • Coordinate the activities program of a group of patients
  • Observe patients' reactions and progress and record clinical notes
  • Maintain order and supervise the conduct of persons committed to the California Department of Corrections
Requirements
  • Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with major work in recreation or recreation therapy
  • Registration as a senior will admit applicants to the examination, but they must produce evidence of graduation or its equivalent and completion of the required field work before they will be considered eligible for appointment
