Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Insurance Examiner to join our team at the State of California. This role is responsible for analyzing and conducting risk-focused surveillance of licensed entities to ensure their solvency.

About the Role

In this position, you will review applications requiring the Commissioner's approval to ascertain their financial stability and compliance with relevant regulations. You will work under the general direction of a Senior Insurance Examiner (Supervisor) and be responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and conduct risk-focused surveillance of licensed entities to ensure their solvency.
  • Review applications requiring the Commissioner's approval to ascertain their financial stability and compliance with the California Insurance Code, California Code of Regulations, Department's rules, and standard operating procedures.
  • Work in a high-rise building, in a cubicle setting, and an open space environment.
  • Eligible for telework in accordance with CDI's Telework policy.
Requirements
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Able to think critically, learn new concepts, and make decisions based on reasonable and timely analysis.
  • Possess good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge and experience in the use of computer application programs such as Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and other database management applications/systems.
