Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team at the Virginia Department of Health. As a Public Health Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to patients in clinics, homes, and schools, and other community or congregate care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform nursing assessments, lab tests, and develop care plans, including medication administration and case management.
  • Participate in public health emergencies and community health assessments.
  • Supervise support staff and ensure adherence to all safety policies.
Requirements
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or a compact state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to function independently, prioritize, and organize work.
  • Knowledge of public health concepts, principles of public health nursing, and epidemiology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a public health setting or related to disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Bilingual language abilities in English and Spanish.
