Job Summary

This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position. The Human Resources Assistant (MIL) will plan, organize, and administer the military personnel program for the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance to the commander and staff on military personnel administration.
  • Keep abreast of new policy statements, regulations, and directives issued by higher headquarters.
  • Develop guidelines and operational procedures to implement changes to policies and programs.
  • Research and resolve difficult military personnel problems and questions.
  • Assist in the preparation for and execution of command-level inspections.
  • Identify trends and develop recommendations based on analysis of subordinate feeder information.
  • Accomplish or review military personnel transactions, including appointments, enlistments, separations, and promotions.
  • Provide guidance and reviews on enlisted and officer evaluation reports.
  • Provide technical assistance to subordinate unit personnel on applications for passports and personnel orders.
  • Implement the enlisted promotion system at the command level.
  • Coordinate and publish requirements for Brigade/Group/Troop Command level enlisted promotion boards.
  • Control the organization's medical readiness programs.
  • Monitor the status of periodic health assessments and ensure timely completion.
  • Provide technical guidance on formal and informal LOD investigations.
  • Review and make corrections to packets prior to submission to medical review and profile boards.
  • Assist subordinate units in coordinating with civilian and military medical authorities.
  • Provide technical guidance on incapacitation pay packets.
  • Prepare and forward required documentation for officer promotion packets.
  • Conduct records review with officers and update records in preparation for upcoming officer board actions.
  • Provide guidance on benefits and entitlements, including career progression, bonus programs, and retirement.
  • Render authoritative explanations of regulations and methods involved in individual cases.
  • Review and/or assemble supporting documentation required at higher levels.
  • Monitor and review reports furnished by higher headquarters to identify trends and assist with personnel readiness.
  • Participate in unit Soldier Readiness Processing for mobilized units.
Requirements
  • Military Grades: E4 through E6.
  • Desired Military Assignments: 42R.
  • Must have administrative or clerical experience, education, or training.
  • Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures, or laws.
Working Conditions

This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule. Work is performed in a typical office setting. Special safety precautions are not required.
