We are seeking a skilled Therapy Specialist to join our team at Frederick County Public Schools. As a key member of our educational staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional therapy services to students with disabilities.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical therapy and experience working with students with diverse needs. Your expertise will enable you to develop and implement individualized therapy programs that cater to the unique requirements of each student.

You will work closely with medical doctors, parents, and other school staff to ensure comprehensive support for our students. Your ability to adapt equipment and provide instruction on management techniques will make a significant impact on their academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide therapy services to students in areas such as range of motion, posture, gait, strength, motor development, and functional abilities
  • Assess students using standardized tests, clinical observations, and review of medical and educational reports to determine need for therapy intervention plan
  • Maintain close liaison with medical doctors and collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure seamless support
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy programs for qualifying students
  • Document screenings, evaluations, Individual Education Programs, progress reports, classroom/home programs, and other data as required
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary scale based on years of full-time experience in a related position, ranging from $85,000 to over $110,000 annually. Our full-time contract is 10 months long, with 200 days of service per year. This position is effective with the 2024-2025 school year.

Requirements
  • Graduation from a four-year accredited program of physical therapy and two years of experience or a master's degree in physical therapy; or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Licensed as an physical therapist by the Virginia Department of Health Professions: Board of Physical Therapy
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Virginia
