We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Transportation Design Engineer - Roadway Improvement to join our dynamic team in Richmond, VA. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects and collaborate with experienced professionals.

About the Role:

  • Lay out horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for road widening projects using AutoDesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
  • Model and design roadway improvement projects, ensuring compliance with VDOT standards and regulations.
  • Develop plan sheets and compile project packages for project submission, maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Complete roadway and drainage calculations utilizing software and reference material, providing accurate results.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates, considering various factors.
  • Research and download available GIS open-source data, applying it to project requirements.
  • Participate in field observations and data collection, contributing to office discussions and project development.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and advancements in transportation design, enhancing your skills and expertise.
  • Attend project meetings with clients and contractors, representing Timmons Group with professionalism.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design, with a focus on roadway improvement projects.
  • Bentley OpenRoads Designer proficiency is preferred, with experience in AutoDesk Civil 3D also advantageous.
  • VDOT experience and EIT certification are highly valued.

Compensation and Benefits: This role comes with an estimated salary range of $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
