Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Essentia Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing and reporting tests of all complexity levels, assisting with the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and report tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA, on patients of all ages.
  • Exhibit problem-solving skills of a complex nature, participate in Quality Assurance, Quality Control Monitoring, instrumentation maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Interpret and correlate test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge.
  • May be required to perform phlebotomy and specimen processing duties.
  • Participate in research, development, education, and technical consultation.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or a four-year degree in Clinical Laboratory Science.
  • Meets Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for alternative route.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification, is required within one year from the date of hire.
Working Conditions

This is an evening rotation position with a shift start/end of evening rotation/evening rotation. The hours per pay period are 80, and the compensation range is $34.59/hour. The union is USWA Technical Workers SMMC (UTECH), and the FTE is 1. Weekends and call obligations are required.
