About the Role:

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing direct therapy to students with special needs, including development, implementation, and maintenance of designated instructional programs, conducting regular assessments, and developing or adjusting IEP goals as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement designated student services as detailed in the student's IEP, including hours and times.
  • Complete assessment reports within mandated time frames.
  • Communicate results of evaluation and specific recommendations of occupational therapy services to parents, educational staff, and students when appropriate.
  • Plan and develop therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant to be integrated in students' educational programs.
  • Conduct periodic reassessment of therapy objectives as indicated by student needs.
  • Monitor and collaborate with other professionals and paraprofessionals involved in occupational therapy intervention procedures.
  • Document and maintain student progress reports in accordance with district and program guidelines.
  • Participate in IEP meetings to present information relevant to students' therapy goals.
  • Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' maturity levels, interests, and needs.
  • Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of occupational therapy services.
  • Facilitate in-service education and professional development for related service/occupational therapy staff.
  • Participate in training educational school staff in the use of assistive technology, such as adaptive equipment.
  • Participate in all required meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in occupational therapy or a related field of study.
  • Valid state occupational therapist (OT) license.
  • Valid CA state driver's license.
  • Prior experience and/or highly knowledgeable in providing occupational therapy services.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with autism-related disabilities and emotional disturbance.
  • Advanced skill in working with students with diverse needs at various levels.
  • Prior experience and highly knowledgeable in applied behavior analysis (ABA) preferred.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Solid motivational skills and willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Well-versed in the use of relevant technology, including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
