Job Title: Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Plant Operations Team at Universal Health Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and preventive maintenance, with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform all tasks related to building maintenance, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
  2. Conduct preventive maintenance and tests on physical plant equipment.
  3. Perform various janitorial duties.
  4. Responsible for keeping tools and materials in good condition and in their proper location.
  5. Take necessary safety precautions when handling hand/power tools and equipment.
  6. Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations, and Safety/Risk Management Plans, policies and procedures.
  7. Assist in maintaining a safe and risk-preventive environment.
  8. Use time constructively and in an organized manner.
  9. Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel, and standard policies and procedures.
  10. Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
  11. Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance, and punctuality.
  12. Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
Requirements:
  1. High school graduate or equivalent preferred; two years of technical or trade school preferred.
  2. Must have at least one (1) year experience in operating a variety of hand/power tools and equipment ensuring proper safety precautions.
  3. Must have at least one (1) year experience in the area of building maintenance, basic mechanical engineering, painting/wall repair, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing.
  4. Must have a valid driver's license.
  5. Must have complete knowledge of physical plant within two weeks of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of all general building maintenance.
  2. Knowledge of basic mechanical engineering.
  3. Knowledge of various hand/power tools and equipment.
  4. Knowledge of risk and safety precautions applicable to all codes and OSHA regulations standards.
  5. Knowledge of all code procedures.
  6. Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  7. Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.
  8. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  9. Ability to analyze problems and situations.
  10. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers.
  11. Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  12. Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information.
  13. Ability to work as a team player.
  14. Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication.
  15. Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures.
  16. Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various patient age groups (adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
  17. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  19. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Physical, Mental, and Special Demands:
  1. Ability to work a 40-hour work week.
  2. Ability to move continuously in the completion of job requirements.
  3. Ability to operate machinery and equipment in a safe manner.
  4. Ability to sit, walk, stand, run, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, push, pull, and twist.
  5. Lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds may be required without assistance.
  6. Ability to work under any weather conditions inside or out without regard for temperatures at any time of the day or night.
  7. Visual acuity is needed for accurate reading of documents.
  8. Ability to hear sound with or without correction.
  9. Good hand and finger dexterity for the use of tools and equipment.
  10. Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
  11. Ability to exert up to 80 pounds of force to move objects.
  12. Ability to read and write.
  13. Ability to respond to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
