Job Summary

As a Group Leader at CSL Plasma, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plasma collection process. Your primary responsibility will be to supervise and coordinate the activities of our phlebotomy team, ensuring that all procedures are followed in accordance with our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of the phlebotomy team, ensuring that all procedures are followed in accordance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.

• Evaluate vein performance of donors and make necessary corrections to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety.

• Educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma, explaining the screening process, health screening tests performed, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition, and other pertinent information.

• Maintain alertness to any reaction by donors and assist with reactions or notify appropriate staff as needed.

• Use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.

• Provide guidance and technical training to donor floor and other staff as required.

• Monitor donor flow on the donor floor to ensure continuous turnover and allocate resources to address donor backlog as needed.

• Perform calibrations and verify that maintenance has been performed as outlined in SOPs, responding to and resolving complex equipment alarms or donor issues as necessary.

• Troubleshoot equipment failures, including creating incident documentation, removing, and/or replacing equipment from service as needed.

• Support center management by providing input into staff scheduling and resolving minor donor relations and technical procedure issues, referring employee relations issues to center management team staff as necessary.

• Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Minimum 18 months experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Specialized medical or phlebotomy training preferred.

Working Conditions

• Ability to make decisions that have a moderate impact on the immediate work unit.

• Understands, remembers, and communicates routine, factual information.

• Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.

• Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.

• Reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.

• Occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

• Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

• Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and to blood-borne pathogens.

• Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.

• Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
