Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including demographic and clinical information.
  • Process patient check-in and check-out procedures, including verifying insurance and obtaining necessary authorizations.
  • Manage patient billing and financial information, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and visitors, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with scheduling patient appointments, entering demographic and clinical information into the system, and coordinating with other parties as needed.
  • Order and maintain clinical supplies, office supplies, and equipment, ensuring a well-stocked and organized workspace.
  • Maintain compliance with established safety and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, OSHA, and infection prevention policies and procedures.
  • Participate in unit performance improvement activities, contributing to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
