Heating and Ventilation Systems Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technician to join our team at Katmai. As an HVAC technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostic testing, overhauling, installation, and repairs on a wide range of sophisticated refrigeration, dehumidification, air-conditioning, ventilation, and heating systems equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform HVAC service calls and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
  • Research specifications as provided by other parties and make installation corrections required to ensure proper function of equipment as required by tenant agency requirements.
  • Perform equipment repairs including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical tasks through the use of varied types of test equipment.
  • Communicate service details with customers and supervisors.
  • Enter job scope and time into computer and complete repair paperwork.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years' experience in high-rise building maintenance.
  • Must have at least five (5) years commercial HVAC experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Holds a valid and current Universal EPA Certification.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems.
  • Ability to use hand power tools and basic hand tools.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to lift and work with heavy equipment.
  • Must be proficient in English and must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government background security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic reading and writing skills.
  • Strong attendance record and punctuality.
  • Prior knowledge of working with Building Automation Systems (BAS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE regulations.
  • Able to work effectively within a team.
  • Working knowledge of carpentry, painting, and electrical systems.
  • Focused on providing strong customer service.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage time to meet deadlines.
  • Able to perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work with others in a professional manner.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily performed in an office setting and/or building but may also be performed in a maintenance facility. Employee may be exposed to sharp objects and may be exposed to some heat, loud noise, chemicals, lead, and vibration.

Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory if applicable. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

Physical Demands:

Position requires the ability to bend, reach, stretch, push, pull, and stand for extended periods; climb ladders, lift heavy objects, moving equipment, supplies, and furniture, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing; walking or standing for extended periods, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
