Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collections Officer I/II to join our team at Ventura County. As a Collections Officer, you will be responsible for collecting monies owed to the County for services rendered and/or taxes/fines/fees levied.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of collection accounts and establish debtor account records to determine delinquent balances.
  • Evaluate payment history and verify client information pertinent to the collection of fees, fines, and/or taxes.
  • Identify patient credits and ensure they are processed within the required time frame.
  • Investigate changes in financial status and establish a course of action to collect monies owed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, and other stakeholders to resolve collection issues.
Requirements
  • Three years of clerical experience, including public contact and training, or one year of experience in accounts receivable or account collections.
  • Two years of medical account collections experience for the Collections Officer II level.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with customers.
  • Knowledge of practices utilized in the collection of delinquent accounts receivable, difficult public contacts, and determination of financial assets and obligations.
  • Working ability to understand, interpret, and explain laws, regulations, and policies governing collection operations.

This is an intermittent position, and the eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular (including Temporary and Fixed-Term), Intermittent, and Extra-Help vacancies for this position only.
