Job Summary:

AdaptHealth LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Director to lead our pharmacy operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pharmacy, including managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing pharmacy services to meet the needs of patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement pharmacy policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and industry standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of pharmacists, technicians, and other staff members to ensure a competent and motivated team.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, such as medication safety programs and adverse event reporting.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with other departments and healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of medications, ensuring accurate inventory management and safe medication practices.
  • Fill and distribute prescriptions to patients in a timely manner.
  • Review prescriptions to ensure accuracy and suitability.
  • Provide information and advice on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
  • Ensure medication will not interact adversely with other prescribed medications.
  • Submit prescriptions to doctors for automatic refills.
  • Monitor patient health and progress to ensure safe and effective medication use.
  • Advise patients on over-the-counter medications and durable medical equipment.
  • Provide information on conditions such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, and high blood pressure.
  • Maintain confidential computerized records of patients' drug therapies to prevent harmful drug interactions.
  • Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, and control records for narcotics or controlled drugs.
  • Plan, implement, or maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
  • Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
  • Advise customers on medication brands, medical equipment, or healthcare supplies.
  • Teach pharmacy students serving as interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure.
  • Maintain unrestricted licensure as required in all states where pharmacy dispenses.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Complete assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
  • Maintain compliance with AdaptHealth's Compliance Program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) is required.
  • Eight (8) years of prior pharmacy experience is required.
  • Two (2) years of leadership experience is required.
  • Valid and unrestricted pharmacist license is required in the state(s) of practice.
  • Registered with the applicable Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license.

Work Environment:

  • Mental alertness and ability to analyze large amounts of data and report in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers due to extensive computer use.
  • Work environment may be stressful at times, as overall office activities and work levels fluctuate.
  • Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds as needed.
  • Excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
