Job Description and Duties

As a Dam Safety Engineer with the Department of Water Resources, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of California's water infrastructure. This position is located at the California Natural Resources Building in downtown Sacramento.

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team of experts who are dedicated to delivering water to over 27 million Californians while protecting the environment and species conservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and perform dam safety inspections, analyzing and evaluating surveillance data from assigned dams and related facilities.
  • Elevate performance concerns and anomalies to the chain-of-command in a timely manner.
  • Prepare annual performance reports for assigned dams and maintain other required documentation.
  • Manage and review special engineering studies, including hydrology, hydraulics, and stability of dams and their appurtenant structures.
Requirements:
  • Valid California Driver's License, as travel throughout the State will be required.
  • Successful completion of all safety training related to the functions of the job.
