Special Education Teacher Position in Urban Public School

About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional educator to join our team as a Special Education Teacher at Making Waves Academy, a dynamic urban public school serving students with diverse needs.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective instruction for students with special needs, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Design and deliver high-quality lesson plans aligned with Common Core and California State standards, differentiated to meet the needs of students with special needs.
- Student Management: Establish and maintain a well-organized classroom environment, manage student behavior, and enforce school policies and procedures.
- Case Management: Complete required compliance documentation, communicate with parents and stakeholders, and collaborate with colleagues to support students' progress towards IEP goals.
- Assessment: Administer and analyze various assessments to inform instructional practice, identify areas of improvement, and make data-driven decisions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree and California Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild/Moderate) required.
- English Learner (EL) Authorization Certificate and RICA Certificate preferred.
- Dedication, commitment, and resilience to succeed in an urban public school setting.
Benefits:
Making Waves Academy offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Additionally, employees enjoy comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
