Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist to join our team. As a Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating mental and behavioral health conditions. You will also provide supervision to Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, and social workers, and develop program content to enhance social development and accomplishment of group goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans for patients with mental and behavioral health conditions.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, and social workers.
  • Develop and implement program content to enhance social development and accomplishment of group goals.
  • Collaborate with the core PACT Team and expanded PACT Team to develop patient care plans.
  • Evaluate patient records from medical providers outside the VA and work with patients to ensure continuity of care.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family and marriage counseling and/or therapy.
  • Help patients develop attitudes and social skills for improved family relations and community responsibility.
  • Address issues such as advance directives and organ donation in accordance with acceptable standards.
  • Input patient information into VISTA/CPRS and complete clinical reminders.
  • Assist in co-managed care collaboration with non-VA providers and facilities.
  • Function as a case manager as needed.
  • Provide patient and family health education with a focus on self-management, prevention, wellness, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of veterans' data and information.
  • Comply with all VA and company training requirements.
  • Fulfill compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission (JC), Environment of Care (EOC) oversight, lab compliance, and other related items.
  • Remain focused on achieving excellent clinical outcomes through specified VA guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service to each veteran and his/her family, both in person and over the phone, as well as to fellow colleagues and clinic visitors.
  • Participate in the clinic's outreach events to support enrollment initiatives.
  • Support patient enrollment and retention in appointments, follow-up visits, or nurse visits.
  • Embrace and support new initiatives, whether clinical or operational.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Board certified in Psychiatry.
  • Valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment or in any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years' clinical medical practice with adult patients.
  • Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
  • Credentialed and in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support and ACLS, as specified by individual VAMC contract.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR experience.
  • Energetic and optimistic demeanor.
