About the Role

The Center for Clean Water Technology at Stony Brook University seeks a part-time Environmental Policy Specialist to support efforts in developing technologies to improve wastewater, groundwater and drinking water quality in New York State.

Job Description

This is a non-exempt position, eligible for overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with government agencies and water authorities to identify fundable water quality projects in New York State, applying for grant funding, reviewing federal and state laws governing purchasing contracts, and designing remediation technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop collaborations with government agencies and water authorities for identifying fundable water quality projects in New York State
  • Apply for grant funding for collaborations identified above
  • Review relevant Federal and New York State laws governing purchasing contracts with septic installers/technology vendors
  • Design associated remediation technologies

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Science, Chemical Engineering or related field, three years or more of full-time experience in a managerial or strategic planning role involved with environmental regulation or policy, demonstrated experience organizing and leading inter-agency collaborative clean water efforts, and experience with grant writing.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
