Beaufort County School District is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to provide health care services to students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medical assistance and first aid to students according to school health program procedures.
- Provide routine counseling services and refer students and their parents to community agencies and professionals as appropriate.
- Plan and implement school health programs in cooperation with medical authorities and administrative school personnel.
- Participate in medical examinations and reviews findings to evaluate health status of pupils and progress of program.
- Establish nursing policies to meet emergencies and cooperate with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of students.
- Administer medications, provide first aid, and maintain health records of students.
- Counsel students in good health habits and work with community agencies in planning facilities to meet needs of children outside of the school environment.
- Assist in program for care of disabled children, monitor students for health problems, and identify and report child abuse/sexual abuse/neglect.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations concerning blood borne pathogens protocol and may serve as site coordinator for staff wellness programs.
- Order and maintain inventory of health room supplies and equipment, compile data, and prepare various reports and records required by the school, district, and/or other agencies.
- Review Medicaid forms for eligibility and generate monthly Medicaid bill reports.
- Stay informed of developments and innovations in the profession and attend training, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc., to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Associates degree (AA) or Bachelors degree (BSN) in nursing.
- Minimum of two years nursing experience.
- SC Registered Nursing Licensure.
- Must possess Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
- Work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean and professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
- Have regular and punctual attendance.
- Follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities.
- Adhere to confidentiality as directed by Federal, State and Local Laws/Regulations; and in accordance with district administrative rules as it pertains to sensitive information, employee information and student information.
