At Optum, we're revolutionizing the way clinicians work and live. As a Nocturnist Hospitalist - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you'll be part of a visionary team that's changing the face of healthcare.
About the Role
- Lead a collaborative and comprehensive healthcare team
- Work 7 nights on, 7 nights off
- Manage crossover calls, ER admissions, and transfers at night
- Focus on a single payor system
- 100% of patients will have a WellMed primary care provider
- Quality vs. Quantity Model - Typical census per hospitalist is 10 to 13 patients per day
- Patient panel is limited to geriatrics with Medicare Advantage coverage
- Bonus metrics are vastly based on quality

Compensation and Benefits Highlights
- Base Salary plus Annual Quality Incentive with a target of $15,000

About WellMed
WellMed is a network of doctors, specialists, and other medical professionals that specialize in providing care for more than 1 million older adults. Our focus is on preventative healthcare, striving to change the face of healthcare for seniors.
Required Qualifications
- Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board
- Valid DEA license
- 1+ year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant
- Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient population
- Ability to work 12 hours at night on a regular basis
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency
- A working understanding and support of a managed care environment
