A key role awaits in our grain operations department as a Senior Operations Specialist at CHS Inc.

About the Job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in Sharon Springs, KS. As a Senior Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing daily grain operations, ensuring quality standards are met, and working closely with leadership to maximize productivity.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in operations and business operations, with excellent knowledge of agriculture and the ability to work extended hours during peak seasons.

Responsibilities:
  • Independently carry out general labor responsibilities, focusing on efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of commodities handled at the location and adhere to company policy and government regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Prepare equipment for loading/unloading, which may involve sampling, loosening large nuts, opening hatches, and attaching/detaching flexible hoses.
  • Load and unload agricultural inputs from railcars and trucks using heavy/light-duty machinery/equipment.
  • Monitor and control load-out functions, maintaining accurate records.
  • Understand and operate automated scale/dump systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication of pumps, valves, and loading arms, and inspecting equipment for leaks/seeps.
  • Maintain inventory quality, ensuring blended, bulk, or packaged products meet quality standards.
  • Deliver products such as fertilizer, chemical, seed, feed, and others to customer sites.
  • Keep all work areas clean, safe, and organized, conducting regular housekeeping duties.
  • Perform grounds maintenance, including snow removal.
  • Assist with warehouse work, operating a loader, loading/unloading inventory, and performing general maintenance.
  • Promptly report customer complaints, repair/maintenance needs, or safety concerns to supervisor.
  • Maintain a strong safety culture, adhering to safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Fulfill other duties as needed to ensure smooth facility operation and exceptional customer service.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in operations and/or business operations.
  • Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile.
  • Excellent knowledge of agriculture and its applications.
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons.
  • Pre-employment screenings may be required.
