About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Produce Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at US Foods. In this role, you will work closely with warehouse management to ensure the highest quality of perishable goods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate daily with buyers and warehouse managers to address food safety concerns and recommend dump and damage or repackaging actions.
  • Inspect and verify Purchase Order quantities for all inbound perishable loads to guarantee accurate inventory levels.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of incoming trucks for signs of pests and rodents before unloading to prevent contamination.
  • Evaluate compliance with Standard Operating Procedures related to receiving, storage, and shipping, identifying any issues for warehouse management attention.
  • Document temperatures of all inbound loads and report any violations to warehouse managers and buyers.
  • Maintain proper rotation of produce inventory and various perishable items to ensure optimal freshness.
  • Perform daily quality inspections for all perishable items, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Conduct daily date checks and remove out-dated products from pick and reserve slots to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Compile and submit daily dump and damage reports to warehouse supervisors or inventory control.
Requirements:
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in produce handling (foodservice, retail, grower/shipper) or similar.
  • Ability to operate electric pallet jacks and work effectively without close supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary to interact with vendors, suppliers, third-party consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Team-player with flexibility and willingness to learn new tasks and adapt to changing business needs.

Estimated salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on location and qualifications.
