Job Description: Geotechnical Drilling SpecialistAs a Geotechnical Drilling Specialist (GMT3), you will be the backbone of our teams with hands-on experience running drills, shooting shotcrete, and mentoring new team members. You will have the opportunity to take pride in your work each day, with visible results, and know that you are building a safe infrastructure for your community and country.
This is a jumping off point into career tracks in management (Superintendent), project management, and specialty drilling (Casing). As a GMT3, you will be responsible for:
- Operating rock drills (Cammachio, KIemm, Casagrande, Fraste)
- Operating construction equipment such as excavator, all terrain forklifts, man lifts, skid steers, and front end loaders
- Reading and determining measurements
- Maintaining a clean and organized construction site
- Working together in a team environment
- Mixing, spraying, running hoses, and operating shotcrete or grouting pumps
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- At least one year soil stabilization or geohazard mitigation experience required
- Drilling experience
- Heavy equipment operation experience
- Prior concrete or shotcrete experience
- Ability to travel extensively
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- Enthusiastically work with a diverse team
We also prefer candidates with:
- Class A CDL
- Nozzleman certification (ACI Certification)

- Climates vary in degrees, in tropical to desert environments.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is often required.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
- Regular heavy lifting (75lbs+) of construction materials on the job site.
As a Geotechnical Drilling Specialist, you can expect a competitive salary range of $23-$27 per hour, with opportunities for overtime pay. In 2023, employees in this role made nearly $34 per hour.
