Atrium Health offers a competitive salary of $65,000 - $90,000 per year for this Registered Respiratory Therapist position.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, where you will perform various aspects of direct respiratory care according to physician's orders and approved protocols. You will consult with physicians on the effectiveness of therapy and make recommendations. Additionally, you will provide ventilator support and maintain other cardiopulmonary life support equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will demonstrate knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each. You will conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation.
  • You will administer therapeutic procedures, understanding their purpose and benefits, and possible effects associated with each. You will perform diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
  • You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilators, while being aware of critical care duties and effects of such therapy.
  • You will independently evaluate current therapies using appropriate judgment and protocols, making proper recommendations concerning plans of care and patient education needs.
  • You will document therapy and results as required by hospital, department, and regulatory agencies. You will communicate information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
  • You will initiate, conduct, and modify respiratory care techniques in emergency settings. You will perform and evaluate blood sampling analysis with a thorough understanding of values, importance, and treatment of abnormal results.
  • You will work independently in all patient care areas and assist co-workers with patient care whenever possible. You will be proficient in electronic medical records and its interface with the Respiratory Care Department.
  • You will follow departmental safety guidelines and complete all regulatory requirements. You will complete annual proficiency evaluation of respiratory care equipment and procedures.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have a graduate degree from an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care. An Associate's RRT or RRT Equivalent is required, while a Bachelor's degree is preferred. You must be credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in North Carolina. A BLS certification is also required per policy guidelines. Advanced certifications are necessary according to facility policy/standards.
