Job Title: Transportation Planner 2

Are you passionate about transportation planning and cultural resources management? Do you have a strong background in architectural history, archaeology, or a related field? We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Planner 2 to join our team at the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a unique blend of transportation planning, cultural resources management, and project coordination skills. As a Transportation Planner 2, you will work closely with our team to ensure that transportation projects comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines related to cultural resources. You will also be responsible for coordinating with stakeholders, including state agencies, cultural resource stakeholders, and the public, to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate transportation planning projects to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines related to cultural resources.
  • Work with stakeholders, including state agencies, cultural resource stakeholders, and the public, to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement cultural resource management plans to ensure that transportation projects do not harm or destroy cultural resources.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including surveys and site visits, to identify and document cultural resources.
  • Prepare and review reports, studies, and surveys related to cultural resources and transportation planning.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure that transportation projects are coordinated and completed efficiently.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in architectural history, archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in transportation planning, cultural resources management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines related to cultural resources.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
