Penn State Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Clinical Staff Leader in the Progressive Care Unit.

Job Summary

This role requires a dynamic individual with strong clinical skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to continuous process improvement. The Clinical Staff Leader will be responsible for assisting in supervising nursing staff, providing leadership and orientation to nursing personnel, and performing a variety of nursing duties in order to coordinate the delivery of care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising nursing staff and provide leadership and orientation to nursing personnel.
  • Perform a variety of nursing duties to coordinate the delivery of care to patients.
  • Update Smart Square scheduling system as needed.
  • Participate in unit and/or hospital-based committees to contribute to organizational initiatives.
  • Report compliance issues and operational needs to Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager.
  • Follow up on audits and provide support to individuals requiring improvement.
  • Conduct crucial conversations and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as necessary.
  • Share audit trends and best practices during huddles and shared governance meetings.
  • Assist Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Educator with competencies or interview processes as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • 2-3 years RN registered nurse experience in acute care setting.
  • Previous work experience in a supervisory, management or other healthcare leadership capacity.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • BLS required prior to orientation completion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
