Computational Research Assistant

We are seeking an organized and proactive individual to support graduate students and postdoctoral fellows on research projects in the Morrison lab at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting research projects by collaborating with lab members and contributing to the development of new projects.
- Working closely with an interactive multidisciplinary team of scientists to gain experience on various types of computation, bioinformatics, and biostatistical projects.
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science, computational biology, biology, mathematics, physics, engineering, or a similar major.
- Linux command-line operations, shell and awk scripting.
- Workflow development using YAML or equivalent tools.
- Programming language: R with R Shiny.
- Web development using the Apache web server, Django framework, and SQLite database or equivalent tools.
- An interest in biomedical research, particularly stem cells and cancer.
- Experience in using a computer cluster/cloud for parallel computing.
- Experience in bioinformatics/biostatistical data analysis.
- Experience in biomedical research.
Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time. Reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s). Dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see and hear within normal parameters. Ability to move about workspace.
