Job Summary

The Estimator will assess Diagnostic Furnish and Install projects for NELCO Worldwide's Houston operation, including both conceptual and hard bid estimates. This role involves interfacing with manufacturing divisions, third-party vendors, and clients directly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish unit pricing for conceptual estimates.
  • Develop and maintain an estimating library and database history.
  • Prepare all material and labor estimates/proposals for NELCO self-performed work for Diagnostics Shielding products.
  • Attend customer job and site meetings as required.
  • Ensure the subcontractor list is up to date.
  • Process the owner's bid form and archive past bids.
  • Review insurance and project requirements with the administrative team for compliance.

Requirements

  • A degree in a construction discipline is preferred, and/or a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the construction industry in an estimating capacity. High School diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of work-related experience required.
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access.
  • Ability to read and write in English to understand basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively with staff and customers; and respond to basic questions.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations. Specialized knowledge is not required.
  • Familiarity with Dodge, BuildingConnected, iSqFt, and ConstructConnect job lead software.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff, and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information, or deliver services.

Work Environment

This position operates in a clerical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
