Job Summary

This position exists to support monitoring, accountability, and compliance requirements associated with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part B, SPP-APR Indicator 1-14. The successful candidate will oversee and initiate on-site monitoring of LEAs, Charter Schools, Pueblos, Tribes, and Nations, ensuring alignment with program and requirements of the IDEA-B.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor complaint settlement CAPs, including desktop monitoring, self-monitoring, and on-site monitoring
  • Maintain the complaint and CAP database for IDEA Section 618 compliance and reporting
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure CAPs are completed and closed and reported in SPP/APR
  • Review documentation to determine compliance with IDEA-B regulations and state rules, determining whether local education agencies meet federal compliance requirements as part of the corrective action process
  • Collaborate with peers and attorneys to determine actions and remedies associated with compliant settlement corrective action
  • Determine and provide necessary technical assistance in conjunction with department teams to achieve and maintain IDEA-B compliance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, or Business Administration
  • Five years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
