Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist Certified to join our team at McLaren Health Care. As a key member of our operating room team, you will be responsible for assisting surgeons and other medical professionals in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients, rooms, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Assist during surgical procedures as part of the surgical team
  • Prepare operating rooms, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly disinfected and assembled
  • Ensure the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the operating room
  • Provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase
  • Monitor vital signs and observe patient status
  • Perform scrub functions, including passing sterile surgical equipment to surgeons
  • Collect and label specimens taken during surgery
  • Help dress patient wounds
  • Transport patients after procedures
  • Ensure operating rooms are clean, sterile, and stocked prior to next procedure
  • Perform clerical duties, such as ordering supplies and maintaining logs
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technology training program
  • Certification as a surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
  • BLS Certification
  • One year of experience in a medical setting (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, anatomy, surgical techniques, and equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique
  • Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems
