Job Overview

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Development Specialist to work with elementary school students near Bolingbrook, Illinois. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students.

About the Position

This contracted position during the school year requires a minimum of 1+ years of experience as a school psychologist. You will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals to provide comprehensive psychological services and interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment and Evaluation

You will conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to identify students' strengths and challenges in cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral domains.

Collaboration and Intervention

You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.

Counseling and Guidance

You will provide counseling and guidance services to students individually or in small groups to address emotional, social, and behavioral issues.

Data Review and Problem-Solving

You will facilitate data review and problem-solving meetings to ensure effective support for students.

Evidence-Based Interventions

You will support the development and implementation of evidence-based interventions to promote positive learning environments and improve student outcomes.

Consultation and Collaboration

You will consult with teachers and school staff to address classroom management strategies, learning strategies, and accommodations for students with special needs.

Multidisciplinary Team Meetings

You will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to contribute expertise and collaborate on student support plans.

Crisis Intervention

You will provide crisis intervention and support during emergency situations or critical incidents.

Record Keeping

You will maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, interventions, and progress monitoring.

Professional Development

You will stay up to date with current research and best practices in the field of child development and psychology.

Qualifications

  • A Master's or doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited program.
  • Current state license or certification as a School Psychologist (or eligible for licensure/certification).
  • Strong knowledge of psychological theories, assessment tools, and intervention strategies.
  • Experience conducting assessments and evaluations for students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
  • Familiarity with special education laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to establish rapport with students and create a safe and supportive environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Estimated Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 per annum
