Job Summary:

In this role as an Environmental Services Technician with GFL Environmental, you will be responsible for operating front-end trucks that provide services to various multi-family residential and commercial routes. Your primary focus will be on collecting and transporting waste or recyclables in accordance with customer contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive commercial frontload or ancillary equipment along designated routes to collect solid waste and transport it to post-collection facilities
• Access cans by opening container enclosures or gates
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections, completing a vehicle condition report at the end of each shift
• Interact with customers and the general public to answer questions and respond to requests, notifying supervisors of any issues requiring management action
• Maintain a clean customer site and ensure safety along roads and highways by cleaning loose trash from the truck and surrounding area
• Complete a DOT logbook, daily route/productivity sheet, and vehicle condition report (post-trip inspection sheet) as required by law or company policy
• Maneuver the truck into and out of tight spaces using mirrors for backing up
• Utilize a key map and GPS to locate service addresses
• Follow safe operating practices, including lockout/tagout procedures, to ensure proper truck operation
• Monitor operations to detect loose debris and visually scan customer sites before and after dumping
• Adhere to all DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and EPA regulations and standards
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is desired
• Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B
• Be at least 21 years old
• Have a minimum one year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate
• Meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
• Demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Familiarity with the truck and its components, as well as basic maintenance requirements for safe operation
• Ability to control equipment operations, maneuvering the truck into and out of tight spaces using mirrors to back distances of approximately 120 feet or more
• Recognize unacceptable waste, such as gasoline or other flammable materials
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• Read, write, and comprehend associated documents and maps
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Adapt to change and commit to seeking continuous improvement
• Exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques
• Coordinate two or more limbs while sitting or standing
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Estimated Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 per year
